Newsletter for the Month of December 2018
The Universe and World Around Us
The Theme for the Month of December was “The Universe and World Around Us”.
Children learnt and explored about space, astronauts, planets, stars, the Moon, the Sun, and our Solar System with our space crafts, related activities, alien stories, rhymes, songs, and games,
It was fun for children, because it stretched their imagination, forcing them to contemplate about stars and planets. It inspired them to learn more about the universe around them as they realized that the world doesn’t end outside the front door.
Hands-on activities taught the young ones about the universe. Stories and Pretending they are on a journey to the moon made them think about space exploration and a lot about moon and its surface. Many craft activities where children created their own constellations, a starry night and sunny day, aliens and planets were enjoyed by the children. Along with the above, children had literacy and numeracy activities related to the theme.
Children also enjoyed understanding about different landforms and a model depicting the land forms was created.
An evening event of “Under the Stars” was enjoyed by all, with moon walk, fairy lights looking like stars, games and a make believe planetarium.
Children had fun preparing and showcasing a small musical for the parents.
With winter setting in, children were spoken to about change in season and how days were now becoming shorter and colder.
The last month of the year, being the most beautiful time of the year, with Christmas decorations, lighting up our Christmas tree and festivities, children sang carols every day and enjoyed the year end class party. The teachers enacted the nativity scene trying to show the birth of Jesus. Our very own, Shirin Ma’am, dressed up as Santa and went around school, spreading the spirit of Christmas and distributing candies.
With this month comes an end of 2018 at Little Pearls.
Season’s greetings and a very Happy New Year to all!
School reopens on 15th Jan 2019 with the Theme “Transport”
