Newsletter for the Month of April/May 2018
A warm welcome to an exciting year of fun, play and learning.
April being the first month of the session witnessed children spending the first few days getting to know one another and becoming comfortable with various classroom routines.
One of our goals is to help each child develop life skills and become increasingly independent as the year progresses
The theme for the month was
“All About Me and Myself”.
Children introduced themselves to the new group or friends and teachers. During this time children developed friendships and worked towards oral communication and developed social skills, learnt about families and roles of family members.
This theme helped children build beginning of the year skills and a sense of family in the classroom.
Language, art, craft, pre math skills, health and hygiene have been integrated in the curriculum. Children worked on skills and concepts important in growing up such as recognizing and learning their names, learning about emotions, personal hygiene (e.g. brushing our teeth), and most of all understanding that everyone is unique and special.
Children enjoyed activities based on the five senses (seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting) and how each sense helps them daily.
The month included action poems, fingerplay, nursery rhymes and songs to reinforce each child’s sense of identity, family, and self-esteem. These rhymes helped children develop a sense about family relationships and self-awareness. They were easily included during circle time and large group times.
On 20thApril Earth Day was celebrated, children planted a sapling and contributed to the ideas of making our planet a better place to live in.
Colour week was from 7th to 10th May. Children dressed up in the colour of the day, participated in a colour parade, show and tell, and played games with colours.
A mother holds the most important place in a child’s life and we at Little Pearls appreciate the efforts of all mothers. On 11th May, Mothers Day was celebrated. It was a day filled with fun, laughter and learning with mothers in school.
Thank you for sharing your little ones with us and we are looking forward to a year of learning, play and fun with them.
With summer holidays approaching, we at Little Pearls, are organising a fun filled Summer Camp with many exciting activities and plenty of choices from 14th May to 16th June 2018.
